Longo And The Good Fellas Demolish Caviar And Lobster Over Penfolds' Finest Red While Builders Keep Ordering Four Cube Too Many For Their Own Wildtrack Fund

On The Boom

TABLE FOR THREE — "Reckon I could get 300 take out of my next pay?" That message landed halfway through the fourth course, between the lobster and the Penfolds, and it is the reason Longo and the good fellas spent the rest of the night on the state of the trade. The topic on the table: how many times a labourer with an ice habit and a head full of nothing has failed to work out a ratchet strap.

The finer points came after the plates were cleared. The builder wants to pay $800 for two men and a $300,000 machine, then complain about the price of fuel. The same builder over-orders every job by four cube, which is $1200 of mud sitting in the gutter, then climbs back into his brand new Wildtrack with a Gucci bag on the passenger seat.

"He'll argue the pump invoice for forty minutes and not notice he's bought the neighbour a driveway," one linehand said, still wearing a hi-vis shirt under his good jacket.

Longo's position is that pumpies are built different, and anyone who isn't one wouldn't know. Anyone who doesn't like that can go fuck themselves. The undercutters are next on the list, and Pump God says he's calling them out by name.

The 300 take-out never got an answer. The lobster did.

Satire, obviously.PumpLife is a satirical publication about the concrete pumping and concrete industry. The stories here are made up for a laugh and are not statements of fact. Any resemblance to a real operator, concreter, pump or smoko is a coincidence.
