AISLE THREE

Bloke In Supplement Shop Confirms Preferences Out Loud Four Times Running Until The Other Fella Says He Feels Better Now

On The Boom

AISLE THREE — Somewhere between the pre-workout tubs and the protein display, one bloke has put his preferences on the record, then put them on the record again, then again, until the fella across the counter finally said it: "That's good to know, bro. I feel better now." Nobody had asked a fourth time. He answered it anyway.

It started with a question about who's been spreading rumours, and escalated the way every pub argument does. "I think you have me confused with someone else," he said, in the tone of a man handing back the wrong parcel. The other bloke asked where the rumour even came from. The answer was another round of the same statement, delivered with more volume and a firmer stance at the counter.

"I'm straight as," he added, in case the first three weren't clear. Then he called himself a hard-out pussy lover, and when that didn't land he said it again, slower, for the back row.

A sports nutritionist who has never lifted anything heavier than a clipboard said it was textbook over-delivery. "You only need the one rep. He did the whole set, then a drop set."

Nobody bought a tub. The only thing leaving that shop with a receipt was the statement.

Satire, obviously.PumpLife is a satirical publication about the concrete pumping and concrete industry. The stories here are made up for a laugh and are not statements of fact. Any resemblance to a real operator, concreter, pump or smoko is a coincidence.
