LABOUR WANTED
Local Linehands Launch Search For Labour Who Pulls A Screed Like This For Free On A Weekend, Own Apprentice Still Won't Hold A Broom
SATURDAY SLAB — Mesh is down, the mud is in, and one woman is leaning over the form with the screed board like she's been doing it since before the pour started. No invoice. No smoko negotiation. No "I'll just grab something from the ute" and gone for forty minutes. Her own line over the footage says it all: she works in construction, so it's free labour for the family on a weekend.
Pumpers across the country watched it and went quiet, then went straight to the group chat. "Where do I find a labourer that looks like this?" is now the most reasonable job ad the trade has ever drafted, and the owner of this page asked it first. Pulling the screed over a fresh slab is the part every operator trusts nobody with, and here it is being done right, in the sun, for a forever home.
"Mine turned up at nine, asked where the toilet was, and left a shovel in the mud overnight," said one linehand, who is now reconsidering every hire he's ever made.
The search continues. The requirements are short: shows up, pulls the screed, doesn't film himself doing it. The last one is the problem, because she did.
Satire, obviously.PumpLife is a satirical publication about the concrete pumping and concrete industry. The stories here are made up for a laugh and are not statements of fact. Any resemblance to a real operator, concreter, pump or smoko is a coincidence.
