SLAB WATCH

Bloke Wrestles Power Trowel Across Fresh Slab In Gumboots Like It Owes Him Money, Leaves Footprints Everywhere And Calls It A Typical Day

On The Boom

SOUTH-EAST QUEENSLAND — The slab is fresh, the trowel is spinning, and the bloke driving it has the face of a man being dragged down the driveway by something he agreed to hold. Gumboots on, tie-dye shirt flapping, teeth bared, he is steering a power trowel across a new pour in a way no training course has ever taught.

He calls it a typical day. Every boot print behind him says he's not lying.

The machine is orange, the handle is bent, and the whole rig is fighting him for the line. He leans in like a man leaning on a stubborn mate at the end of a long Friday. The slab, meanwhile, is covered in boot prints like a crime scene for a crime nobody will ever report. Not one finisher in the country has looked at the pattern and said anything other than "yep, been there".

A linehand watching the footage said the whole job comes down to one rule: you never let the trowel see you're scared. He added that this bloke has clearly never read it.

The pour is down, the mud is going off, and a lawn full of poor decisions sits right next to the slab. It's a typical day for drcrete.creation. Somewhere, a shit pump is still being blamed for every bit of it.

Satire, obviously.PumpLife is a satirical publication about the concrete pumping and concrete industry. The stories here are made up for a laugh and are not statements of fact. Any resemblance to a real operator, concreter, pump or smoko is a coincidence.
