Tragedy on Site – Concrete Pump Incident Sparks Legal Action

The concrete game copped a heavy blow this week.

Following a fatal incident in August 2025 at a site in Carlingford, Sydney, legal action has now been launched after claims a union official was denied entry to the workplace the day after the accident.

The original incident involved a concrete pump that fell, killing one worker and leaving another with life-changing injuries.

Now, the CFMEU has filed proceedings in the Federal Court alleging one of its officials was refused access to the site when attempting to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.

According to court documents, the official claims he had a legal right of entry under workplace safety laws to inspect the site and gather information. It is alleged he was verbally abused and ordered to leave before the site gate was shut and locked.

The developer involved has stated it is cooperating fully with authorities and SafeWork investigations but declined to comment on the specific allegations.

The union is seeking damages, arguing that access should have been granted to allow proper investigation and representation for workers.
